Integrating to Personio

We understand that a growing organisation often needs HR softwares to manage their team and personnel data for efficient communication and insights. MuchSkills has decided to create its first integration with Europe's leading HR Software - Personio.

How to connect your Personio team database to MuchSkills

Step 1

To get started you will need your Personio Client ID and Personio Client Secret, both of which can be found in your Personio Settings page under the API page. (Settings  >API Credentials)

Click Generate New Credentials.

Give the new API Credentials a name. In this example I've called it "MuchSkills API Integration". You can call it anything you like.

Select MuchSkills as the Integration from the dropdown and you only need to check the Read data along the Employees row. MuchSkills doesn't need any other data.

Once that is done, you will be able to select the Readable Employee Attributes. This is where you can grant MuchSkills specific access to different data points from Personio. MuchSkills only requires the following 8 attributes

1. First Name
2. Last Name
3. Email
4. Position
5. Supervisor
6. Department
7. Profile Picture
8. Status

Ensure that you pick ALL 8 attributes for the integration to sync.

You will now be able to copy the Client ID and Secret that will be needed when connecting MuchSkills to Personio. Once these values are copied, go to Step 2.

Step 2

Jump back to your MuchSkills Team settings page and navigate to 'Integrations'.

Paste the Client ID and Client Secret that you just copied and enter it in the relevant fields.

‍You will be able to see immediately if the API is connected and working fine. If everything is synced fine, you will see various departments listed. You can choose to sync all departments or just pick the ones you want to. (Ideally we would sync all)

If there is an error, double check to see that ALL necessary attributes are allowed in the Personio API page.

Once you've done that, you can press 'Start Sync'.

Easy peasy.

The database will start to sync and can take anything from 1 minute to 15 minutes to sync all data.

What happens next?

Well, everyone in the departments that you have selected will receive an invitation to their office email address to join your team on MuchSkills.

Don't forget to give everyone in you teams a heads up that they will be needed to click on the link and create their skills profile on MuchSkills.

To help you with that we have drafted a 'Heads-up' email that you can send to everyone informing them about MuchSkills. Feel fee to copy-paste that in your mail.
