You counted the AI licences. Who counted the skills?

Most organisations know how many AI seats they pay for. Few can say who uses AI well, in which roles, and where the gaps that matter for their plans are.

MuchSkills runs the AI skills assessment for CHROs, HR directors, heads of L&D and CTOs. It measures AI skills by role, team and level on a 1 to 9 scale, so you can answer the board with data.

The demo is 60 minutes with Daniel Nilsson.

Which AI skills does each role need?

When the board asks how AI-ready you are, start with what each role needs. A shared framework gives HR, L&D and the business the same definition of good before anyone is rated. Pick a role family, see three AI skills with what working level and expert level look like, and copy it into your role profiles or workforce plan.

Pick a role family:
  1. 1

Using AI assistants for everyday work

    INTWorking level

Drafts, summarises and searches with an approved assistant every week, and knows what never to paste in.

    EXPExpert level

Has built prompts or assistants that the whole team reuses.

  2. 2

    Checking AI output

    INTWorking level

Checks facts, figures and sources before anything AI-made leaves their desk.

    EXPExpert level

Sets the checking rules for the team and spots failure patterns early.

  3. 3

    Data and privacy judgement

    INTWorking level

Knows which company and personal data may go into which tool.

    EXPExpert level

Advises colleagues and flags a risky use before it spreads.

This is MuchSkills’ own point of view, not a standard. Change it to fit your roles.

The CEO asks about skills. Finance brings licences.

The CEO asks how AI-ready the workforce is. Finance brings the licence count. HR brings a survey and a guess.

An AI readiness assessment for employees should look at skill level per role, not course completions. Then you can see the gap against what your plans depend on.

I appreciate how easy it is to compile skills into an analysis list, give employees an assessment of their skills, and thus get a clear picture of the distribution of competencies in the company, such as AI skills.

Every question, in the FAQ
How do you measure AI skills in the workforce?

Define the AI skills each role needs, set a required level for each, then rate people against them. MuchSkills uses a 1 to 9 scale of practical, daily-use competence and shows gaps by role, team and level.

What does an AI skills assessment include?

It covers the AI skills each role family needs, each person’s level, the level the role requires and the gap between them. The framework above is a starting point, with a working and an expert level for each skill.

Can we trust self-rated AI skills?

Employees rate themselves and managers check the ratings. MuchSkills logs every change to a skill record, with who, what and when, and keeps the history. Our information security management is aligned to ISO/IEC 27001, with certification in progress.

What about AI literacy and the EU AI Act?

Our article on EU AI Act Article 4 explains what AI literacy means for employers. It is not legal advice, so check your obligations with your legal team.

Does MuchSkills replace our training platform?

No. MuchSkills connects to your LMS, imports training completions and links training to each gap. Your platform delivers the learning.

Can we ask questions of our skills data in plain language?

MuchSkills AI was launched at UNLEASH Paris in October 2026, with customer access to follow. It is built to answer questions like “Do we have the skills to ship our AI roadmap?” from the graded skills data.

How much does an AI skills assessment with MuchSkills cost?

Most plans combine an annual platform fee with a price per user, billed yearly. Onboarding is sized to your organisation and quoted before you sign. Book a demo and we will send you a quote.
